Journey with me to sun-kissed, wind-spanked Tern Island of the French Frigate Shoals, where humans play second fiddle to the abundant wildlife. My time on Tern will last from late January to early April. I will be tagging Laysan and Black-footed albatross with GPS, satellite and archival tags to track their movements over the north Pacific as part of my post-graduate research project. I hope this blog provides a little window into the lives of seabirds and the people who study them.

Happy Birthday, Grandma! Happy New Years and Merry Christmas to everyone from everyone on Tern, feathered and non-feathered.
What a fantastic video! Who wants a white Christmas after watching this? About the time I got that close-up glimpse into the nest, however, I imagined you crawling around the island on all fours in a Halloween bird costume trying to gain their trust. Whatever it takes for all the great shots...

Awesome video! I'll be going out to Midway Island soon, hopefully I'll get to see a lot of the same stuff.
